Created as a research centre in 1988 the Republican Center for Study of Public Opinion (now – Center for Study of Public Opinion) pioneered social and market research in Kazakhstan.

CIOM research area covers Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. CIOM has coordinated several multi-country re¬searches in these countries.

As a full service company CIOM conducts all steps of opinion research – questionnaire design, pre-testing, inter¬viewers training, field work, data entry, data processing, and reporting/presentation. The Center has as its major objective to contribute to society by the highest standards in the practice of social and marketing research. The Center aims not only to enhance the status of research as a science, but also to improve abilities of decision makers working in the region to make the right decision at each stage of growth and policy development.
